A Sunny but Chilly day for a whimsical and ethereal styled shoot in North Wales

Angel skin and ethereal makeup vibes

I have been a Bridal Makeup Artist covering North West England (Cheshire) and North Wales for over 15 years and I am so lucky to work on some of the most beautiful weddings and I get to work with the best brides to be. However I occasionally network with other suppliers in the industry and take part in styled shoots as these are opportunities to showcase skill and create new trends that will be seen by potential brides to be.

In January I am usually fairly quiet and I have so much more time to work on my website and I have been looking back at all the work and shoots I have done over the years and tonight's throwback was this incredible shoot I did in January 2020 literally weeks before we into lockdown. I recall we were talking about Covid but little did we know on that sunny and happy day what was to come.

The shoot had a very whimsical and outdoorsy feel to it and the venue called the Rivercatcher just on the outskirts of Corwen, sitting right on the River Dee, and it was absolutely perfect.

I created a very pretty look on our model Gracie focussing on angel skin which is something I really excel at, a glowing and very natural look that matches her skin tone seamlessly. I know Gracie well and I had chance to practice the look before the shoot and I wanted to use warm orange tones and golds on her eyes, because they are so blue, when you use orange shades it can bring out the blue of a persons eye even more. I recall uses lashes and I remember when applying them thinking they were pretty fluffy and full on, but when on the photos it was a risk that paid off as they didn't look as dramatic and looked so very pretty. I like this about a styled shoot as you have carte blanche to be more creative and take a risk.

Hair on the day was the lovely Lindsey McElmeel who is one of my recommended hairdressers on this website and she created a pretty textured updo on Gracie and added a beautiful and delicate porcelain crown from Vivi Embellish.

The whole event and feel of the shoot was planned and organised by Jade Leung a North Wales based Wedding Planner and the stunning images you see are but the very talented Heledd Roberts. Dresses were picked and were perfection from Silk Loft in Bangor.

There were 2 floral arrangements on the day the fresh from Sioned Piontwr and the dry Florals from Rosehip and Wren

She is a wildflower, beautiful, fierce and free

The images are so very beautiful and I was so grateful to be asked to take part in a wonderful and stylish shoot working with some fabulous North Wales based wedding suppliers.
