I am Cathryn Kerwin-Rawlinson and I have been a Bridal Makeup Artist working in the North West of England and North Wales for over 15 years and in that time I have built up a fantastic reputation and from my love of Makeup comes a passion for skincare, because I believe that good makeup starts with great skin. I will always work with my Brides to be on the run up to the wedding day to make sure that their skin is in the best shape it has ever been. The things I recommend aren't overly expensive and can slot easily into their usual routine.
When I am meeting people and doing makeup, for me the biggest skin concern that I see is de-hydrated skin and this affects pretty much every skin type and it is not to be confused with dry skin.
A great way to help with dehydration is to up your water in-take but you can add hydration topically too to the skin and the best way to do this is using a Hyaluronic Acid serum and my favourite is from Hada Labo, a brand that is sold on Amazon and Superdrug.
So the science behind this product.... Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is found naturally in the skin and when a person hits around 25, the skin begins to start maturing and you start to lose HA and it is what gives skin bounce, moisture and youth. HA draws moisture from the atmosphere to the skin and locks it in, it is what we call a humectant in skincare, HA holds 1000 times it's own weight in water per molecule, it is like giving your skin a big pint of water. So by using it you see plumpness, softening of the lines and a lovely dewy glow to the skin and this happens pretty much immediately when using it.
So my personal favourite and in my opinion the Rolls Royce of HA serums are from a brand called Hada Labo and the amazing Super Hydrator. It comes in 3 types the Original HA Super Hydrator which contains 4 Molecules of HA in varying sizes to penetrate into different layers of the skin, then there is the Anti Ageing, again with 4 molecules of HA and added Collagen and Retinol, both added ingredients are amazing for ageing skin and great for people over 30 to use. Finally in 2022 they launched the Premium HA Super Hydrator and this is my personal favourite, this contains 5 weights of HA molecules to penetrate the skin even further and the glow it gives the skin is incredible.
It really is amazing stuff and working with my brides to be I always recommend using it on the run up to the day using it in morning routine and then again in the evening after cleansing and before moisturising.
