Let's Talk About Pinterest — And Why It's Not Always Real

Pinterest used to be the place where every bride went for ideas and inspiration. It's where you'd scroll for hours, saving looks you loved and imagining how you'd feel on your wedding day. But let's be honest, Pinterest isn't quite what it used to be.

So many of the makeup looks you're seeing on there now aren't real. They're not real brides, they're not real skin, and half the time, they're not even real people. A lot of them are AI-generated, which means they're digitally created faces made to look flawless. No pores, no texture, no movement — just smooth, perfect, airbrushed skin that doesn't actually exist.

And that's the problem. Because when you bring me one of those AI or heavily edited images and ask for the same thing, it's not something that's achievable on a real person — not because you're not beautiful, but because human skin has life. It moves, it glows, it has texture. That's what makes it look like you.

As someone who works in Bridal Makeup North Wales Cheshire, I can tell you the makeup that photographs the best is always the makeup that looks real. It's skin that's healthy, hydrated, and glowing, not blurred out by filters or edits.

So here's my advice — use Pinterest for general ideas, but don't take what you see there as gospel. Instead, look for inspiration from real makeup artists, real brides, and real weddings.

If you're following me on Instagram, that's the best place to find your bridal inspiration. The images I share are my real brides, photographed on their actual wedding mornings. You'll see real makeup, real lighting, and real skin — and that's what you should be looking for.

The same goes for other bridal artists too. If you love someone's work, scroll through their page, look at the details, and see how their makeup looks across different brides. That's the kind of inspiration that will give you a true idea of what's possible for you.

When we work together on your wedding makeup in North Wales or Cheshire, I'll always encourage you to bring ideas that feel like you. Not AI faces, not celebrity filters, but inspiration from real artistry. Because that's how we create makeup that feels authentic, beautiful, and true to who you are.

Pinterest can still be fun, but just remember — a lot of what you're seeing isn't real. The best inspiration comes from reality, from real brides, and from trusted artists who do this every single day.

So next time you're scrolling, take it with a pinch of salt and come back to the real world of beauty. That's where the magic happens.
