Staying True to My Style: Why Natural, Polished Makeup Will Always Be My Signature in Bridal

This blog feels like the most authentic piece I've ever written because it truly reflects who I am and what I stand for as a makeup artist. Honesty and integrity have become core values for me as I've grown in my role, and this post comes straight from the heart. It embodies my brand, my passion, and everything I strive to be in my craft. I want to be transparent about my style, my approach, and the kind of brides I work with because that authenticity is what makes my work feel so rewarding.

Over the past 17 years as a bridal makeup artist, I've seen countless trends come and go. Some I've loved, while others... not so much. One particular era that stands out is 2016. Let's just say it wasn't my favourite. The makeup style back then was very heavy, with extreme contouring, razor-sharp brows, and layers upon layers of product. While I could appreciate the skill behind it, it was never a look I felt comfortable creating.

Even back then, I stuck to my guns, focusing on a more natural and polished approach to makeup. I'll admit, I often felt like the odd one out, surrounded by artists creating bold Instagram-worthy looks while I prioritised glowing skin and seamless blending. For me, the beauty of makeup lies in enhancing someone's features, not masking them. That's not to say heavier makeup isn't skilful – it absolutely is – but it's a very different skill set from creating natural, glowing skin that still looks flawless in person and on camera.

As I've grown in my career, I've become even more confident in my niche. I don't strive to be everything to everyone. Instead, I focus on what I truly love and excel at: polished, red-carpet-inspired looks that highlight a bride's natural beauty. Skin that looks like skin – but better. A perfectly blended smoky eye. A classic red lip with a red carpet effortless edge. These are the things that make me tick as a makeup artist.

There's a misconception that natural makeup is just "Easy to apply and no makeup," and I want to set the record straight. The brides I work with are absolutely wearing makeup – it's just applied in a way that enhances rather than overwhelms. I take my time, blending every detail meticulously, and using techniques like airbrushing to achieve that flawless, second-skin finish. It's not about piling on product; it's about using the right products in the right way.

I've learned over the years that authenticity is key. My diary stays full not because I try to cater to every bride, but because the brides who book me truly understand my style. They want to look like the best version of themselves, not someone else entirely. They want their wedding makeup to feel timeless, not overtly trendy, where it can date very quickly.

To be clear, if you love full-coverage makeup with heavy contouring, baking powder, bold eyebrows, and an ultra-glam Instagram aesthetic, I'm probably not the makeup artist for you – and that's absolutely fine. But if you want radiant, glowing skin, makeup that feels weightless yet impactful, and a polished, elegant look that leaves people gasping in admiration, then we might just be a perfect match.

At the end of the day, I believe bridal makeup should feel authentic to you. My goal is always to create a look that reflects your beauty in the most effortless and flattering way. So, if that sounds like your vibe, get in touch. I'd love to help you feel like the most beautiful version of yourself on your wedding day.
