As a Bridal Makeup Artist covering North Wales and Cheshire, I understand the importance of good skincare will reap the rewards when it comes to your wedding day, and in this blog I want to talk about the area of most concern on most people. I will see the common question of noticing that concealers gather into this area and make fine lines appear more visible. This comes down to hydration and often I will ask the question in return "are you using eye-cream" and the answers most of the time is NO.
There is a common misconception that using eye cream is something you only start in your late 40s or 50s. Contrary to belief, it is recommend beginning this skin care routine in your early 20s or 30s. It is better to be proactive about skincare rather than dealing with the consequences in the later stages of life. The skin under the eyes is delicate and more susceptible to dehydration, which leads to puffiness, fine lines, and dark circles. In this area, aging signs might begin earlier than you anticipate, I recall noticing the early signs of crows feet in my early 20s and started eye-cream then, because I just knew then that I would regret it when I hit my 30s and 40s. By adding an eye cream into your skincare routine in your early adulthood, you are ensuring a gentle and dedicated moisturiser for the skin around your eyes. Using eye cream rather than your normal facial moisturiser is crucial. because the skin is so thin and susceptible to dehydration you need something more targeted and hydrating.
Eye creams are developed to tackle specific issues, including puffiness, dark circles, fine lines, and wrinkles, in this delicate area. Most of these products are formulated with active ingredients like: Vitamin C (daytime use only and for brightening) caffeine (for depuffing and dark circles), retinol (for smoothing out fine lines), and hyaluronic acid or ceramides (for hydration and nourishment). Adopting this habit of using an eye cream at a young age, long before visible aging signs begin to appear, means taking a proactive role in keeping the skin looking young, hydrated and vibrant. Using a tiny amount (a pea-sized amount is sufficient) both morning and evening could have you reaping rewards down the line. Don't overlook the importance of a gentle application. Since the skin around the eyes is delicate, applying the product in a gentle tapping motion with your ring finger is recommended. Avoid pulling, rubbing, or being harsh with the application. Don't wait until it's too late. Start incorporating eye cream into your routine for youthful-looking eyes tomorrow. Your future self will be thanking you for the wise decisions you made.
