When it comes to makeup, I'm a firm believer that it should enhance one's natural beauty, not overshadow it. That's why my makeup style tends to gravitate towards looks that are radiant, elegant, and timeless. The way I see it, beauty is about being comfortable in your own skin, and using makeup to highlight your features, rather than cover them up. Let me share with you how I achieve these effortless and sophisticated looks.
First off, radiance. In my books, radiance starts with a solid skincare routine, because it's all about that glow-from-within look. A hydrating serum like a good Hyaluronic Acid, my go to is always Hada Labo, a excellent Moisturiser and a suitable primer set the stage for radiant makeup. I personally opt for luminous foundations and concealers to create a youthful, fresh-faced look. This gives me the opportunity to work on a luminous base, which is crucial to my makeup style. Using products with light-reflecting properties help me achieve that glow, coupled with a subtle highlighter on the high points of the face to really make the skin shine.
Accentuating the eyes, with light smoky eyes
or winged liners and layers of mascara. Lips usually remain natural, or occasionally with a pop of colour for those bold days. Finally, let's discuss the timeless aspect. My approach to a timeless look relies on a balance of classic and current beauty trends. I've always admired iconic looks like Marilyn Monroe's red lip and Audrey Hepburn's dramatic lashes, but I also love incorporating modern makeup trends into my looks. My mantra here is balance – it's about creating harmony between different elements of makeup.
I opt for makeup that will look as good in pictures twenty years from now as it does today. The versatility of this radiant, elegant and timeless makeup style makes it suitable for any occasion, from everyday looks to special events. Remember, the secret to these looks is focusing on skin health, playing with the right colours for your complexion, and striking the right balance between old and new trends.
